The Transformation Of Dunleary Village
Wednesday, 28th August
The tiny fishing village of Dunleary was first transformed when the builders of the gigantic West Pier of the royal Harbour arrived in 1820. A little over a decade later, the railroad builders arrived, reshaped the landscape and put their railway terminus in the centre of the village. When they later moved the railway station, they closed off much of the old harbour. Since then, the former old harbour has had a variety of industrial uses before becoming a desirable residential and office location. What remains of the original village? Where are the traces of the various transformations?
